The Oslebshausen police were called out for a large fight between 400 guests of an Islamic child marriage, the Weser Kurier reports.
On Saturday 2 June, numerous wedding guests attacked each other and more than 100 policemen had to move in to stop the fights.
The police later spoke of an “extremely aggressive mood” among the visitors, including Syrians. According to police, a dispute among the guests got out of control.
However, shortly after arriving, the officers got caught between the two parties. The police forces were, according to their own statement, “suddenly attacked”.
Three officials suffered minor injuries that could be treated and sent home. At least two guests were injured as well.
The investigation is underway, but not only because of the mass brawl at the Schragestraße. There is also a strong suspicion that the Muslim bride was only 15 years old, as the internal authority has received “concrete hints” about her age.
The interior authority knows, however, based on the evidence the youth welfare office of lower Saxon city should be responsible for the girl, says a spokeswoman.
This office has been informed and asked to check whether there is a risk of child exploitation.
